Abstract

The last decade of the 20th century is interesting by many different features. This is the period when the foundation of the totalitarian regime started to destroy and the national ideas became more and more acute behind the iron curtain. The given process took place in Georgian society in the painful, emotional and often disorganized way.

The change of the political and social conditions on the one hand hampered the development of the culture process and on the other hand it gave the completely different route to the development of Georgian literature. The collapse of the Soviet political and economic regime has in a certain way contributed to the formation of the public consciousness, which made certain corrections to the Georgian cultural thinking system too.

The research of the literary processes of the 1990s and of the beginning of the 21st century has become more acute lately (M. Kvachantiradze, Sh. Iatashvili, B. Tsipuria, M. Piresashvili, D. Chikhladze, N. Kutsia).

The subject to our interest is to define what influence have the radical epochal changes made on the Georgian cultural processes and what is the literary representation of those issues.

Based on the studied materials, the cascade of the problems can be defined in the following thematic issues:
1) Topic of the Abkhazian War; Georgian-Abkhazian relationships;
2) Georgian-Ossetian relationships and the Tskhinvali War;
3) Topic of the civil war;
4) Conflict between generations;
5) Drug-addiction topic;
6) Devaluation of values;
It can be clearly claimed that the diverse crisis of the 1990s has been almost completely reflected in Georgian fiction texts.
